Inaugurated on 12 April 1975, the idea of a new airport for the city, the metropolis and the Lyon region emerged in the late 1960s following the saturation of Lyon-Bron airport. With an area of 2,000 hectares, Saint-Exupéry airport is located in the middle of an important crossroads between the Rhône and the Saône, while being close to the Alps, Italy and Switzerland. Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport is 25 km away from the centre of Lyon metropolis, 75 km from Saint Etienne and 90 km from Grenoble. It takes place on several communes at the same time, whose names are Colombier-Saugnieu, Pusignan, Saint-Bonnet-de-Mure and Genas.
This airport, firstly named Lyon-Satolas, has changed its name on June 29, 2000 in honour of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, born in our beautiful city.
How to get in Lyon Airport ?
